In line with its objective to contribute to the Global Stocktake (GST) process under the Paris Agreement, the West Africa Regional Hub of the Independent Global Stocktake (iGST WA Hub) has launched its Young Fellowship Program (YFP) which seeks to actively engage the youth in the region to contribute to the fight against climate change. The YFP is a six-month research program with the aim of building the capacity of the fellows in relevant topics related to the Paris Agreement and its implementation while providing them with mentorship to enable them to carry out a regional study that includes:

• Analysis of the West African Parties’ commitments from NDCs including their goals, ambitions, and strategies related to climate mitigation and adaptation.
• Analysis of the contents of NDCs vis-à-vis the policies of the different development sectors of each country on the one hand and the results of the first GST on the other hand.
• Evaluation of the alignment of the Parties’ NDCs with the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement.
• Identification of gaps in information and data on climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a specific focus on the unaccounted Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) efforts or relevant actions in the field.
• Evaluation of the relevance of the NDCs in a local context.

The iGST WA Hub’s Young Fellows bring a wealth of passion and dedication to this endeavor. They were selected from a diverse set of backgrounds and expertise that collectively form the backbone of this program.
